Vampiro Life - Build in Public: Entry Two

Rolling dice, slinging disciplines, and fixing memory one bug at a time.

Hey everyone 👋

Time for another devlog update from the shadows. Progress on Vampiro Life continues slowly but surely. Between support shifts at Supabase and late-night coding sprints, the project keeps moving toward a more complete AI-powered Vampire: The Masquerade experience.

Skill checks are live (with Willpower)

One of the most exciting updates: skill checks are now functional. You can see dice rolls clearly and reroll using Willpower, just like in tabletop rules. For people less familiar with the VTM dice system, the UI also shows broad outcomes (success, messy success, bestial failure) so results are easier to read.

This was a core piece for gameplay feel.

Disciplines UI

We now have a working UI for Disciplines, with contextual info explaining each ability. The goal is to make Disciplines feel powerful and thematic, not just another list of buttons.

Nearby NPCs refactor, now with POIs

The Nearby NPCs system got a full refactor and now displays Points of Interest too, which helps make the city feel alive and easier to navigate during play.

Fixes and tweaks

  • Quest system: work started, but Gemini quest quality still needs improvement.
  • Back button on subscription page: no more UI dead-end.
  • Memory management: backend and UI fixes to reduce random forgetfulness.
  • UI color update: chat text now fits the darker gothic aesthetic.

Next steps

  • Improve quest generation reliability.
  • Revamp world-building UX so it feels smoother and more intuitive.
