Thin-Bloods

A thin-blood is a vampire with weak, unstable blood. Hunger, Rouse Checks, the Beast, and the risk of an Embrace transition still apply. This page sets out Vampiro Life's V1 contract and marks the parts the source record does not settle.

The short answer

Thin-bloods have Blood Potency 0 and use the vampire chassis, including Hunger and Rouse Checks. They start without a clan or predator type and do not get the normal starting Discipline spread. Creation uses one to three paired thin-blood Merits and Flaws, plus Thin-Blood Alchemy through the Thin-Blood Alchemist Merit and an optional Discipline Affinity.

What makes a thin-blood

When a sheet, scene, or transition needs a ruling, check the character's identity and the V1 boundary first.

Blood Potency 0
Blood Potency 0 is the defining marker here. A thin-blood remains a vampire, with the Hunger ladder, Rouse Checks, feeding, and the Beast-facing consequences of that chassis.
No clan or predator type
The V1 creation branch assigns neither a clan nor a predator type. Leave both fields unset; do not supply a default clan or guessed feeding approach.
Paired choices
Choose one to three paired thin-blood Merits and Flaws. Each pairing must balance. Ordinary Merits and Flaws remain separate entries on the sheet.
Alchemy and Affinity
Thin-Blood Alchemist gives the adopted starter package: one Alchemy dot and one formula. A Discipline Affinity is optional. Exact Alchemy effects and ingredients come from catalog data, not from invented rules.
  1. Weak blood does not mean mortal rules

Thin-bloods are neither mortals nor ghouls. They have Hunger, can make Rouse Checks, can feed, and face vampire consequences. The mortal and ghoul bridge does not supply their Health, damage, or recovery rules. Thin blood alone never gives a character a hunter Creed or Drive.

  2. Creation starts with a narrower identity

The V1 path records a 14th-generation thin-blood with Blood Potency 0, no predator type, and no normal starting Disciplines. Thin-blood Merits and Flaws describe the character's unstable blood. Choose one to three pairs, with the selected flaws funding the selected Merits.

  3. Thin-Blood Alchemy is its own branch

The Thin-Blood Alchemist Merit gives one Alchemy dot and one formula in the adopted starting package. Use the approved catalog entry for formula effects, methods, ingredients, and activation costs. Do not import an effect from an unverified source or run a converted sheet's Alchemy without its recorded reagent state.

  4. Temporary blood is not a permanent Discipline sheet

Resonance access, temporary powers, and other borrowed effects need a named source and duration. A thin-blood may have an optional permanent Affinity, but it does not become a normal Discipline spread or grant a clan. Keep permanent and temporary access separate on the sheet.

  5. Diablerie stays inside the verified boundary

V1 can record a successful transition to true Kindred with generation 13, Blood Potency 1, and the victim's clan. It removes active thin-blood traits and temporary powers. The exact printed contest, costs, Humanity consequences, and advancement procedure stay reference-only until a licensed primary text or explicit chronicle ruling is attached.

Play the unstable edge

Let the blood stay uncertain without making the character sheet vague. Vampiro Life keeps the thin-blood boundary visible from creation through transition.

Thin-blood choices at the table

The blood state stays the same while the character's story changes.

  • The formula keeper

A 14th-generation thin-blood with Blood Potency 0, Thin-Blood Alchemist, and one paired flaw.

The character is a vampire with Hunger and Rouse Checks. Their leverage comes from a formula and from people who can provide what it needs. No clan or predator type fills the gap.

  • The borrowed spark

A thin-blood with an optional Discipline Affinity and no normal starting Discipline spread.

The Affinity is recorded as a permanent creation choice. It does not make the character a clan member, and temporary resonance effects stay separate.

  • The transition

A Storyteller records a verified successful diablerie.

The sheet follows the transition receipt: true Kindred identity, generation 13, Blood Potency 1, and the victim's clan. Unverified contest details stay out of the narration.

How Vampiro Life keeps thin-bloods legible

The app keeps the vampire chassis active and gives thin-blood creation its own branch. A weak blood state therefore does not inherit mortal or full-Kindred assumptions by accident.

  • The character kind is authoritative: thin-blood is a vampire kind with Blood Potency 0.
  • Creation records the paired thin-blood package, optional Affinity, Alchemy setup, and no predator type.
  • Permanent powers, temporary resonance access, and Alchemy reagent status remain separate facts.
  • A transition receipt records what changed and preserves only the effects allowed by the verified V1 contract.

Frequently asked

Do thin-bloods use Hunger dice?
Yes. Thin-bloods are vampires with Blood Potency 0, so Hunger and Rouse Checks remain active. The no-Hunger rule belongs to mortals and ghouls.
Do thin-bloods get a clan or predator type?
Not in the V1 creation branch. Leave both fields unset instead of assigning a default.
Do thin-bloods start with normal Disciplines?
No. The V1 branch does not use the ordinary starting Discipline spread. A permanent Affinity is optional, and any other access must be recorded explicitly.
What does Thin-Blood Alchemist provide?
The adopted V1 contract grants one dot of Thin-Blood Alchemy and one formula. Use approved catalog data for methods, formula effects, and ingredients.
Can thin-blood vitae make a ghoul?
No. The ghoul bridge excludes thin-blood vitae as a source of ghouling.
Are all diablerie rules implemented here?
No. V1 records the verified transition state. The exact printed contest and consequences remain reference-only until their source or a chronicle ruling is attached.
